Gemma is 24 and comes from Camden in London. In her album ‘messy’ she has sung about lots of the issues in her life and in an interview with the Camden New Journal, September 2004, Gemma stated that: “Mary J Blige would be my hero. I used to listen to her albums a lot.  She sings about her struggle. I think everyone’s got a struggle but mine is about single parenthood, the times when my Dad was ill and Domestic Violence.” Gemma experienced Domestic Violence in her own relationship with a man, she states "As someone who has experienced domestic violence I know how lonely and scary it can be."

As a survivor, Gemma is actively supporting this site, and will be helping to promote it to young people.
